Description

The Ellipse-A Miniature AHRS is an incredibly lightweight (45 grams) and small-sized sensor. It features a MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) with enhanced capabilities, advanced algorithms and filtering – all at a cost-effective price point.

The MEMS-based IMU integrates three gyroscopes, three magnetometers, and three accelerometers. Thanks to the extended Kalman filter (EKF), it provides accurate orientation data in both static and dynamic conditions. Ellipse-A accuracy: up to 0.1° real-time attitude, up to 2 cm RTK GNSS positions, and 10 cm auto-adaptive heave.

Advanced filtering includes: efficient vibration rejection, real time fusion of inertial, GNSS, and aiding data (DMI, RTCM, etc.) and false GPS measurements rejection.

The Ellipse-A also offers incredible versatility. Users have the option to connect their own GPS/GNSS receiver or use the internal one, connect an odometer, receive differential GPS corrections, and more.

Highly Rugged to Vibrations and Magnetic Disturbances

  • Vibrations: Internal FIR filters coupled with Coning & Sculling integrals to provide efficient vibration rejection.
  • Calibration: Intensively tested and calibrated from -40 to 85°C for consistent data in all conditions
  • Iron Disturbances: Ellipse sensors are immune to magnetic disturbances. Plus, a magnetic calibration tool is embedded in the inertial sensor which allows quick in-field soft and hard magnetic disturbances compensation.

Applications

  • Marine: Ellipse-A is the smallest inertial sensor of its class to provide heave data. Mounted on a buoy or a vessel, it adjusts automatically to the wave period for more accurate measurements. It is well suited for sub-sea applications, to compensate single beam sonar or to orientate Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV).
  • Land: Ellipse-A is a powerful and cost-effective solution to measure the orientation of cameras, antennas, or scientific equipment embedded on a car, a truck, or a UGVs, etc. It provides accurate time-stamped data for precise synchronization.
  • Aerospace: Ellipse-A offers outstanding performance. Features a robust IP68 enclosure, high output rate, and extended dynamic temperature calibration (-40° to 85°C). It operates perfectly in aerospace applications, especially for on-board equipment orientation or stabilization.
