pingBuddy by uAvionix is a ADS-B receiver that makes it possible to view air traffic, weather updates, and other flight monitoring data in real time through your Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) of choice. As of December 2016, the pingBuddy is the smallest and lightest Wi-Fi based ADS-B receiver in the world. To use the pingBuddy simply power up the device, join a wireless network that you control, and then load your EFB software to begin collecting data and displaying information about surrounding flights.

pingBuddy is a Wi-Fi interfaced ADS-B receiver capable of detecting ADS-B equipped aircraft transmitting on both 1090 MHz and 978 MHz, as well as receiving transceived ADS-R traffic and flight information (FIS-B) data from ground stations.  pingBuddy easily integrates with most GDL 90 applications, including some of the most popular electronic flight bags.  ADS-B allows identification and visualization of nearby aircraft in real-time, and enables the delivery of FIS-B data such as weather, NOTAMs and TFRs.  Extremely low power consumption and a micro form factor (the entire device weighs just 12 grams) make it portable and usable on a variety of applications.  pingBuddy is easy to use and perfect from the hobbyist to professional user, there is nothing to configure – just power, connect wirelessly and track!
